Meeting the challenge of MiFID

MiFID – the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive – came into operation on November 1st 2007. It sets out a comprehensive regulatory regime covering investment services and financial markets in Europe. An EU-wide initiative, it replaces the Investment Services Directive of 1993.

MiFID's Objectives

To improve the organisation and functioning of investment firms, facilitate cross border trading and thus encourage the integration of EU capital markets. MiFID also provides strong investor protection, with a comprehensive set of rules governing the relationship that investment firms have with their clients.
